7 Card Stud
7 Card Stud is a very popular game amongst the more au fait players of Poker. This game although easy to learn, requires a little bit of patience and a bit of skill.
At the start of each game each player placed an ante on the table. This is a predetermined wagering amount as set out by the online poker room. Three cards are then dealt (hole cards) with one card placed face up (door card). This is now called Third Street and the person who has the lowest door card has to bring in the betting. Players can now either call, fold or raise.
Call or Check is when you place the equal amount of money into the pot as what the player on your left has placed. Fold is when you decide that your hand will neither win the high or the low hands and you wish to excuse yourself from the game and raise is when you not only put in the equivalent amount wagered by the player on your left, but raise that value. Each game of 7-Card stud can be capped, which means that when the maximum betting requirement has been reached, the game is capped and no further raises will be entertained.
Forth Street now comes in with the forth card being placed on the table face up, a round of betting follows with Fifth and Sixth Street following exactly as in Forth Street with betting rounds in-between.
The River Card or Seventh Street is now dealt and this final card is dealt facedown, followed by a final round of betting before the Showdown.
The Showdown comes with all players that are still in the game, vying for the pot have to now show their hands and lay them face up on the table. The player with the highest and the lowest hands will now split the pot and the game will come to an end.
7 Card Stud is a fast game and a game for the pros. The stakes can get very high here, but for the novice there are very low capped games to play where you can hone you skill before you take on the big boys.
