Texas Holdem
Playing in a land based Casino, the dealer does not play – a disc known as the 'dealer button' will move in a clockwise position from one player to the next – this button marks which player is the dealer. Blackjack is played with a 52 Card Deck.
The majority of Texas Holdem Poker games start off with two players sitting to the left of the dealer. They will in turn place a predetermined wager into the pot prior to any cards being dealt. This is called posting the blinds – The first blind which is the player to the left of the dealer will then wager half the minimum bet, and the second blind will in turn place a wager which is equivalent to the full minimum wager on the table.
Each player is dealt two cards face down – these cards are known as the hole cards. It is at this point that betting takes place beginning with the player to the left of the two who posted the blinds. Players can then call, raise, or fold when it's their turn to wager.
After the first betting round, the dealer discards the top card of the deck and this is called burning the card and is done to ensure that no one accidentally saw the top card, and to help prevent cheating. The dealer then flips the next three cards face up on the table which is known as the Flop.
After the flop, another round of betting takes place, beginning with the player to the left of the dealer. During this and all future rounds of wagering, players can check, call, raise, or fold when it's their turn to wager.
The dealer will then burn another card (discard) and deals one more face up onto the table. This which is the fourth community card, is called the turn or fourth street. The player to the left of the dealer will then begin the third round of betting.
The dealer will then burn yet another card before placing the final card face-up on the table. This card is called the river or fifth street.
Players can now use any combination of seven cards which consists of the five community cards on the table and the two hole cards originally dealt to them face down which will be known only to them to form the best possible five-card Poker hand
The fourth and final round of wagering will then start with the player to the left of the dealer. After the final wagering round, all players who remain in the game reveal their hands. The player who made the initial bet or the player who made the last raise shows their hand first.
